Medical Ministry International-Peru was pleased to work with professionals from Harry J Lawall and Son and Southwest Baptist University for it’s 4th annual Physical Therapy project in the city of Lima, Peru.  The group of 17 volunteers was able to treat 145 patients in 3 impoverished areas. The team was able to distribute over 40 wheelchairs and 50 orthotics to children and adults with various disabilities.  Many of these patents can’t afford these types of supports nor are they readily available for those who might have some resources.  The team was excited to have the support of Rich Bash, of Harry J. Lawall & Son, to help modify donated orthotics.  Rich Bash is a CPO (Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist) and pediatric specialist, who works in the Pottstown and Willow Grove area. Rich was eager to join the mission and offer his skill and expertise in any way possible.  He even doubled as a wheelchair mechanic!  The Lawall company has donated orthotics and services to the MMI Peru team for several years and were excited to have a member of their team join them for the first time on a project.  Medical Ministry International and Harry J Lawall & Son look forward to their continued partnership in this service to the poor in Peru.  For more information about the work in Peru, please contact Jodee Fortner at j.fortner@mmint.org.
